- Delegate and Empower. Determine which tasks within your business can be delegated or outsourced to a VA, any routine tasks can be passed on to free up your time for more strategic activities. Make sure you equip your team or VA with the necessary skills and resources to take on the tasks you have delegated.
- Prioritise and Time Block. Look at your priorities and determine which tasks are the most important and or impactful on your business then physically book blocks of time for these tasks in your diary. This will help you maintain focus and increase your productivity. Remember is it ok to say NO. If a request comes in for your time and it doesn’t align to your priorities or set goals the politely decline it.
- Automation. Those routine tasks we mentioned in point 1, could they be automated to streamline the process and reduce manual effort? There are some many tools and software packages out there today to help us with this. Use things like project management tools or CRM systems to improve your efficiency wherever possible.
- Eliminate Distractions and Create Boundaries. Create a dedicated workspace, particularly if you work from home and turn off any unnecessary notifications. Be clear about your hours of work and make sure your team and clients or customers also understand these and make sure you take regular breaks. Your breaks are a must as they will keep you fresh, improve focus and prevent the dreaded burnout
- Set Realistic Deadlines and Expectations. Avoid overcommitting and ensure that any deadlines that are set are achievable. Make sure you communicate these deadlines to all involved in the projects.
